Sock It To Me

Student Council sponsored a sock drive. Over 1,000 pairs of socks were donated to Open Door Mission. Student council members created a box for students to throw their socks in. What a great project!

2nd grade has been learning new words. Words they have learned so far include mother, than, just and very. By doing this, they have been improving their vocabulary.

Reading Minutes

Rumsey Students were challenged to read a combined total of 50,000 minutes by Mrs. Kelberlau. The students delivered so Sean Watson, the magician, visited Rumsey and made Mrs. Kelberlau disappear!!!. Here is a student assisting Sean with a magic trick.

Canned Food Drive!

November 9^th through November 19^th provided exciting times for Rumsey Station. Student Council Members organized the annual Canned Food Drive.  736 cans were donated. All the cans went to Bellevue Food Pantry. All of the Student Council members enjoyed doing it for people in need.

On Wednesday December 1^st, students in Mrs. Cieslik’s class played instruments and sang, “Wade in the Water,” a traditional American spiritual. Damien Burger, Lauren Frady and Ellie Morrison (pictured above) are playing wood blocks to the beat. Rachel Loerch (right) is playing two bars on the glockenspiel every time the singers sing "wade" in the song.

Volleyball Tournament

Champion’s Volleyball

 

The Red Bulls from 6^th grade beat the 5^th grade Titans in the Rumsey Station Annual Volleyball Tournament. It was a close game, but Red Bull came out on top in the end. Mrs. Schwartz’s class gets the prized Champion’s Volleyball in their room for one year.

Poetry

6^th graders are starting a poetry unit in writing. Currently they are being immersed in poetry by reading poems. They are learning techniques that mentor poets use. Later in the unit they will use all they learned to write their own poetry.
